Sava  means corpse, and lying down in that position relaxing the whole body  and mind, is called savasana..  It is a great relaxation technique by being motionless, but your mind is fully conscious. We have to take care however not to  use Savasana as an opportunity to drift  off into a dream state or even to sleep.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How to do Savasana?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Usually Savasana is done after the practice of yogasanas. By then your body will be completely tired.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;Many yoga students leave at this stage without spending extra 10 minutes for the Savasana. Keep your heels of the feet together with toes apart.&lt;br /&gt;3. Close your eyes as if you are sleeping.&lt;br /&gt;5. Take a deep breath and exhale it slowly and concentrate on your breath.  Repeat this process three times. &lt;br /&gt;6. Observe your breath and see that it comes to normal. &lt;br /&gt;7.  Now relax your whole body part by part, starting from the feet.   Tell in your mind 'relax my feet' 2-3 times, and concentrate on your  feet. Likewise, tell in mind about each part of your body till the head,  and concentrate that part properly. &lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;8. By now your whole body gets relaxed and feels very light.&lt;br /&gt;9.  In this stage, your mind may start thinking about various things, but  that should not be allowed. Disperse all thoughts from your mind and  leave it completely empty.&lt;br /&gt;10. Take a deep breath and chant "Aum"  loudly. Repeat&amp;nbsp; it three times. Now you will feel the waves of "Aum"  passing all over your nerves, which will give you a great feeling.&amp;nbsp; Experience this blissful feeling for about 2-3 minutes.&lt;br /&gt;11. Then slowly shake your hands and legs to come back to normal position.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;12. Keep your right hand backward and left hand on the chest, and then slowly to the right and then lie down in Makarasana for 2 minutes. In fact, yoga, which means 'union' is about the bringing together and harmonization of your mind, body and soul. Through a deeper understanding of the philosophical aspects of yoga it is possible for you to go deeper into your practice and make yoga an even bigger part of your daily life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Sutra's of Patanjali is one of the most popular texts dealing with yoga philosophy. Widely influenced by the great Indian sage Patanjali, most modern day yoga students' first introduction to philosophy is through their introduction to the Yamas and Niyamas or in hearing the words "the Eight Limbs of Yoga".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Patanjali is known as one of the founders of yoga. Born around 300 BC, Patanjali's texts give you a set of 196 aphorisms or threads known as the Sutras. This work epitomizes the principles and practices of yoga as it brings together all the various strands and thoughts re yoga philosophy into one comprehensive bundle of knowledge.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;The Four Chapters of the Sutras&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Sutras offer you a thread, or sutra to follow though each stage of your yoga journey. The Sutras contain four chapters, each chapter covering a different stage and approach to yoga.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. The first chapter explains yoga and focuses on how the mind fluctuates, the obstacles the mind creates and the effect this has on you and your yoga practice.&lt;br /&gt;2. The second chapter focuses on the Eight Limbs of Yoga, which is where most yoga students first encounter the Sutras.&lt;br /&gt;3. The third chapter of the Sutras explores the potential of your mind and the vast release of potential which can be gained through the practice and mastery of yoga.&lt;br /&gt;4. The fourth chapter discusses the soul and its final journey towards release and liberation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;The Sutras and the Eight Limbs of Yoga&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As previously stated, the more common known Sutra text, is the second chapter of the Sutra. According to Patanjali, this consists of eight limbs, known as 'The Eight Limbs of Yoga'. Each of the limbs form part of yoga philosophy yet each limb has its own separate meaning or identity. The ultimate aim is to study and gradually integrate the Eight Limbs of Yoga into your daily life. This gives you a well rounded, more holistic yoga practice. The Eight Limbs can be viewed as stepping stones towards the traditional goal of yoga - self realisation and enlightenment - a true and deep sense of inner peace and universal connection.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first five limbs of the Eight Limbs of Yoga help to clear negative emotions and behaviours and prepare the body and mind for the next three limbs, which lead to enlightenment or Samadi as it is known in yoga.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;The first five limbs consist of&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Yama (a set of social codes for communal ethical living)&lt;br /&gt;2. Niyama (guidelines for personal conduct and behaviour)&lt;br /&gt;3. Asana (yoga postures)&lt;br /&gt;4. Pranayama (breath control)&lt;br /&gt;5. Pratyahara (withdrawal and control of the senses)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;The last three limbs are&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. Dharana (concentration)&lt;br /&gt;7. Dhyana (meditation)&lt;br /&gt;8. Samadhi (enlightenment, self-realisation)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As a Yoga Teacher, I have noticed some students prefer to study the philosophical side of yoga whilst others favour the more practical aspects. It began at 6 p.m. and went on until 10 p.m. More than 150 people attended the programme, and made it a great success. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It was also an opportunity for the kids to show their talents by performing Bharatha Natayam, Krishna Leela, patriotic dance and drama.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Association President Smt.Indira, The temple in-charge Sri Thumsi, Treasurer Smt.Prathibha, Yoga instructors Udayashankar Shetty Anna, Mallika Akka, and Lakshmi Narayan Anna were among the people who attended it. The team consisted of 17 members from Bangalore and 13 members from Chelekere (Chitradurga Dist). They visited the most affected areas of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh and Raichur District in Karnataka. They went in two lorries with rice, oil, salt, cloth, blankets, towels, mosquito coils etc to help the affected people, and distributed them personally. These things were bought with the money donated by the yoga students and teachers. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is considered as Andhra Pradesh's worst-in-a-century floods claiming several lives and crores of loss. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Many of these members had fondly remembered the special time they had spent in Krishna River during their tour in April-May. The Sr. Manager at the Canara Bank was kind enough to explain to them how a Bank functions and its role in the society for financial purpose, in simple words. The program was inaugurated on 15th April 2009, immediately after the New Year of some States of India which was on the 14th April. The kids were too happy to get introduced to a new beginning of the New Year.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are some of the  photos from one of the centres. No plate is given.Usually the food is like sweet pongal, kara pongal, puliyogere, bisibele bath, curd rice, payasam etc, in a semi-solid consistency, so that it can easily be  taken with the hand  and made a ball, which is served to all the members with lots of joy and affection. The concept of the Mathru Bojan is that when we were young how our mothers used to give us food so lovingly telling amusing stories and asking us to see the moon. Enjoying that affection the  kid takes food without a fuss. Ramaswamy in 1980 at Tumkur, Karnataka State, South India.  He is more popularly known as Ramaswamy Anna among his Yoga friends.  He was inspired by eminent Yoga Gurus  Padmasri Dr BKS Iyengar, Sri Mallyadi halli Raghavendra Swamy and Sri Ajith Kumar. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With a great mission in mind, Sri Ramaswamy started this yoga centre which offers &lt;strong&gt;free yoga training &lt;/strong&gt;to the aspiring yoga students, to make more and more people lead a  healthy and happy life by practising yoga as a part of their life. Today the Samithi has more than 325 Yoga teaching branches, most of them are in Karnataka. More than &lt;strong&gt;10 lakhs of families&lt;/strong&gt; have already got benefitted from his vision. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sri Ramaswamy visits each branch of this Samithi and makes sure they are  working satisfactorily. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are some of the photos during one such visit to one of the branches in Bangalore.
