A new branch for free yoga was started in Begur in Bangalore in March 2010. Begur is said to have been a prominent place during the rule of the Chola Kingdom.
The class is taken at the premises of Chowdeshwari Temple on the off Bangalore-Hosur highway.
The first batch completed their basic course and they are having their Chandini Programme today evening.

Benefits of Yoga
Yoga is attaining more and more prominent role in our daily life, and more people are coming to know its benefits. Still many people wonder what wonders this ancient form of exercises can do for us in our busy life, and why should we practise it regularly.

Yoga Anniversary of Bommanahalli branch
Bommanahalli branch of Sri Pathanjali Yoga Sikshana Samithi (Regd) Karnataka celebrated their first year anniversary on the 4th of December 2009 at the temple premises of ISRA, at Bommanahalli, Bangalore,Karnataka. It began at 6 p.m. and went on until 10 p.m. More than 150 people attended the programme, and made it a great success.
It was also an opportunity for the kids to show their talents by performing Bharatha Natayam, Krishna Leela, patriotic dance and drama.
The Association President Smt.Indira, The temple in-charge Sri Thumsi, Treasurer Smt.Prathibha, Yoga instructors Udayashankar Shetty Anna, Mallika Akka, and Lakshmi Narayan Anna were among the people who attended it. Apart from many yoga students, people from the neighboring area were also happy to attend the anniversary programme.
Another highlight of the programme was the Chandini programme. About 50 varieties of food (South Indian and North Indian) were served as prasadam, which were voluntarily brought by the yoga friends. These dishes were served to the attendees as Kai Thutthu.(Given in the hands, without any plate affectionately.)

Pathanjali Yoga team helps flood victims
A 30-member team of Sri Pathanjali Yoga Sikshana Samithi (Regd) Karnataka, under the leadership of Sri Ramaswamy Anna and Sri Kaipu Seshadri Anna proceeded to visit the Flood affected areas in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, on 9th October 2009. The team consisted of 17 members from Bangalore and 13 members from Chelekere (Chitradurga Dist). They visited the most affected areas of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh and Raichur District in Karnataka. They went in two lorries with rice, oil, salt, cloth, blankets, towels, mosquito coils etc to help the affected people, and distributed them personally. These things were bought with the money donated by the yoga students and teachers.
It is considered as Andhra Pradesh's worst-in-a-century floods claiming several lives and crores of loss.
Many of these members had fondly remembered the special time they had spent in Krishna River during their tour in April-May. The yoga team returned on the evening of 12th October with wounded hearts seeing the situation of the affected areas.




This is one of the few houses which remained after the calamity. See the damage occurred.



The ceiling of this house was washed out from its original place because of the force of the water.
It is considered as Andhra Pradesh's worst-in-a-century floods claiming several lives and crores of loss.

Special Yoga Camp at Bangalore
A special Free Yoga Camp held in Bangalore at the CPRI Campus from 1st to 4th October 2009 was a grand success. One hundred and one people took part in this camp from different parts of Karnataka. Apart from Sri Pathanjali Yoga Sikshana Samithi, participants from other Samithis were also there.
Eminent speakers like Sri Ramaswamy Anna, Sri Kaipu Seshagiri Anna, Sri M.K. Nagaraj Rao Anna, and Dr. Shivkumar Anna spoke at the camp empowering the participants with the knowledge of Yoga and its benefits.


Dr.Shivkumar,a medical doctor from Chickmangalore, is demonstrating about the health benefits of Yoga.

As usual, on each day of the camp, prasadam was also served to the participants.
